Michael Vick rocks charts taking the number one spot. The ever popular
David Beckham notched the second position. Former American Idol contestant
Sanjaya Malakar proves there's more to him than AI judge Simon Cowell
sees as he rocked the charts by taking the number three slot. ASEAN
football stories sparked our reader's interest. In the sections most
visited department Cambodia Sports continues to maintain a strong
interest taking first place while International Football made a strong
return to the charts taking the second position.

FOOTBALL
SPARKS OUR READERS INTEREST
Sports
rule as our Sports Notes columns took seven slots on our NR Top 10
ratings. One Video Beat television column and on Phnom Penh column
also took their place in the Top 10. Our 2008 Year In Review Part
2 rounded out the Top 10.
FREE AT LAST, FREE AT LAST - Once a Falcon now an Eagle
the question is, is Michael Vick on the road to recovery and those
were the words that helped our Sports Notes column about the return
of Michael Vick to the NFL which topped our NR Top 10 most read stories
for the period of August 10 to September 10. The column also rated
as our fastest rising story for this period.
The ever popular David Beckham notched the second position.
We noted the abuse the English national suffered from American soccer
fans that was prompted by a book accusing Beckham of not being a dedicated
and good teammate for the LA Galaxy.
Former American Idol contestant Sanjaya Malakar proves
there's more to him than AI judge Simon Cowell sees as he rocked the
charts by taking the number three slot. Malakar is a contestant on
the reality series I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here that is currently
being televised in the Southeast Asian region. The fan interest proves
that Malakar has appeal though Cowell may not think so.
Soccer continued to dominate our charts as an oldie
but apparently a goodie from November 2005 regarding the Cambodian
National team being denied participation in the Sea Games by its own
Olympic Committee. The piece also notes the disarray of the Cambodian
Football Federations questionable handling of the finance and payment
to its players to the extent where then manager Joachim Fickert paid
the team out of his own pocket to the extent of being owed over $70,000
by the Federation.
More stories about ASEAN football sparked our readers
interest as another oldie from January 2006 titled SEA Games $#!T
Hits The Fan which was a follow-up on the Cambodian team being denied
participation in the games. The Hit The Fans story noted the game
fixing that was exposed during the competition and that took the fifth
top story spot.
In the sections most visited department Cambodia Sports
continues to maintain a strong interest in moving up one notch from
2nd to first. The NBA fell from first to 10th and Soccer/International
Football made a strong return to the charts taking the second position.
Our Archives section fell one spot to the sixth position.
This past month we have split the section into five sections including
sports, television, travel, Phnom Penh and features. Our Biz Who Is
section returned to the charts and took third place while our boxing
also returned securing the seventh position.
With the UP Open being decided tennis is in the air
therefore from our tennis archives a story from 1999 featuring the
Williams sisters defying all odds and criticism. This story came about
during the 1998 Virginia Slims tournament in Los Angeles, California.
The sisters were being blasted by the media about important things
such as the beads in their hair. Comments were made by some of the
media who didn't feel their father Richard was handling the girls
properly.
At that time we predicted that the girls would reach
number one in the rankings. Our predictions were answered by the girl's
stellar play enabling both to achieve number one rankings and obviously
Richards's child rearing can't be faulted. Enough said?

Part 2 - What
was hot for the quarter? Luiz Filepe Scolari dominated the quarter
taking the top story prize when he announced that it was he
and not Ronaldo who was moving on and taking the mangers post
at Chelsea. Former Beatle Ringo Starr defying all odds (particularly
mine) as he went on tour at the ripe old age of 67. David Cook
won the American Idol title in somewhat of a shocker as runner-up
David Archuleta was perceived to be the winner prior to the
votes being tallied. Talk show host Larry King continues to

TEEN QUEENS
- August 1998
When you're around the Williams sisters you get a sense
that they know where they are on the road to their success and
are programmed to block out negative thinking by others and
toxic people. You also get a sense that they know they're young
but it's not a factor it's a case of... if you're over 18...YOU'RE
TOO OLD. There's nothing going to help you...EVENTUALLY WE'RE
GOING TO WIN IT ALL.
