NR Sports
& TV Reviews Rule
As
the year winds down this month we took a look at the stories published
this year that appealed to NR readers. The NR
Top 10 columns registered five of the 10 positions and was also
the top section visited. The most popular NR Top 10 months were May
taking the top spot followed by August and June taking the 2nd and 3rd
positions. The two other NR top 10 months were September notching the
5th spot and October taking the 8th position making it our fastest riser
of the month.
Our Sports Notes column took
three positions on the list topped by September (4th), July (8th) and
(6th) and our July Extra edition locked down the 9th spot. Our television
review column Video Beat took the remaining two positions. The October
Video Beat Max ranked 7th and October EXTRA EXTRA notched the 10th spot.
So what made May so popular? Six of the 10 spots were
taken by Video Beat columns featuring a heavy month of decision making
on the Apprentice and American idol.
Sports made some noise with the top spot that month being a focus on
Fabio Capello, Jose Mourinho and David Beckham. When it comes to noting
what rocked the boat the most in May we have to rationalize go figure.
With NR Top 10 columns being non specific we took a look
at the September Sports Notes column which ranked 4th. That column was
about the uproar chain reaction to Ronaldo wanting to leave Man U for
Real Madrid. Liuz Filipe Scolari then took away the thunder on
his then Portugal International player and dropped the bomb that it
is he not Ronaldo who will make all the noise as he revealed to the
world after Portugal's 3-1 victory over the Chez Republic by stating
that he would be leaving the Portuguese national team to manage Chelsea.
As we've stated in the past Chelsea owner Roman AbRAMOvich
(Ramo) isn't Rambo but with that sweet deal of signing Scolari the 41-year-old
Russian could certainly be rated in the Rambo category. He hit the big
one in pulling off the Scolari signing against some major odds. He made
a master stroke and hired perhaps the only available manager on the
planet who didn't have to walk in Jose Mourinho's shadow.
The July Sports Notes which took the 6th position focused
on the continued uproar on the loyalties of Christiano Ronaldo
towards the man who made him the player he is today Sir Alex Ferguson.
That column also digs into the Thaksin Shinawatra situation
at Manchester City and their interest in Ronaldinho. We suggested that
Ronaldinho should make better use of his time and talent rather than
get involved with that Thaksin mess. Our opinion
proved to be right.
'The Video Beat Max column of October pointed out the
new look of Tyra Bank's America's Top Model with a transsexual contestant
as well as their first full blooded Asian. That column also takes a
look at the Celebrity Apprentice and their no mercy tactics in
the Donald Trump world of business. The Amazing Race Asia and USA editions
were covered in noting that the Asian edition
held all the Trump cards of who they wanted in the race by issuing non
elimination rounds for the teams they want and eliminating the teams
they dislike. As Mick Jagger sang about life, Ít's a bitch.
Our Sports Notes July Extra column that ranked 9th noted
that Ronaldinho took our advice and avoided Thaksin and signed
with the A.C. Milan football club. We also took a look at FIFA President
Sepp Blatter's remarks about Ronaldo receiving slave wages to
which Pele wondered what's wrong with Christian's head. After all was
said and done weeks later Blatter denied making the remarks and life
went on as we all listened and learned from the famous words of Rodney
King who said, "Why can't we all just get
along," after the LAPD bashed his head in.
We also looked at the NBA fixed game scandal where a referee
was accused of fixing NBA games. At that time he wasn't charged but
in September he was sentenced to a short jail term. In the column we
noted some of the games in question and linked the stories we wrote
at the time the games were played years ago. At that time we thought
the calls were incredulous. Years later our
suspicions proved to be right but many NBA players who were
involved in those games worked in the league for years and retired without
winning an NBA title.
But hey, why end on a sour note when we can go light.
Now we're talking about races both the presidential and the Amazing
(Races USA - Asian).
While Barack Obama and John McCain battled it out in televised
presidential debates McCain's VP partner Sarah Palin blossomed on to
center stage. Her intervention spurred comedian Tina Fey to imitate
Pailin on Saturday Night Live. Fey resembles Palin and had her character
down to a tee. The presidential race is over but the Sarah Palin jokes
are not.
The oldest story was about former NFL (National Football
League) player Howie Long. It's about how Long (a poor white
boy) made his way out of a Boston ghetto and made a life for himself
and a Hall of Fame football player, actor and now a football commentator
on television. In case you weren't aware the ghettos in America aren't
exclusive for minorities.
This month we'll exclude pointing out what sections were
most visited. For those of you in America or wherever who celebrate
Thanksgiving enjoy and have a happy one.

INTERNET
THEFT?
In researching the findings we have found that search
engines Yahoo, Google and MSN are all guilty of misleading the public.
They have linked our story information to other sites without our permission.
Those sites include Thai Visa, Washington University
in the USA and UNESCO.
We have tried to contact Yahoo regarding this matter but
there was no response. For our story on Digital
Divide Data titled Bridging The Digital Gap Yahoo linked our
information to UNESCO and Washington University web sites as noted below.

Text Service, 8 April 8, ... www.unescobkk.org/fileadmin/user_upload/ict/Metasurvey/CAMBODIA.PDF

The
questions are:
1. Why would a company that is valued at billions of dollars
employ dishonest practices?
2. Who is responsible for manipulating information that
is misleading to the public?
3. Who is responsible at UNESCO in permitting the practice?
Yahoo used the same story to mislead the public to
the Washington University (USA) web site as noted below:

Our Roman Wanderaugh
columns have been linked to other web sites by all three search engines
without our permission. The most flagrant violator is Thai Visa. We
have contacted them in the past but they have ignored our request to
take our stories off their site.
All three of the mentioned search engines have used our
story information and linked it to Thai Visa without our permission.
Thai Visa actually stole our story and posted it on their site. In the
past they not only stole our Cambodia By Land
& Sea story but also used our photo. Since that time the photo is
not on our story on their site.
Google provides advertising for the site. The question
is why would a company that is worth billions of dollars resort to supporting
a web site that steals?
The information of our information page on the Google
site also had the following endorsing going to the Thai Visa site. ©2007
Google - Google Home - Advertising Programs - Business Solutions - About
Google FRONT PAGE WITH THAI VISA
MSN did the same. They listed incorrect information
and linked our work to Thai Visa as noted below:

results from www.thaivisa.com
MSN also listed the headline TRAVELING AROUND on the Cambodia
Land & Sea story. It raises the question why was it necessary to
make two listings on the same story to link to the Thai Visa site?
Roman Wanderaugh and any other
National Radio columns are only legally available
on the Internet on National Radio. We DO NOT GIVE PERMISSION
for any other web site to use our material including soliciting our
photos to the public.
We negotiate directly with interested parties for use.
We are published in print in five languages. We do not approve of
Thai Visa using our material and all of the search engines misleading
the public to other web sites using National Radio information.
Isn't a search engines job to lead the public to the information
they seek? It is clearly stated on our National Radio web site:

whole or in part, is prohibited unless authorized in writing by National
Radio. Contact: nationalradio@yahoo.com All

The questions are:
1. Where is the integrity of these companies?
2. Why should people do business with web sites that employ
illegal practices?
3. If search engine companies render misinformation regarding
linking the public to web sites they aren't searching for while stealing
the traffic from the site the public intends to reach does that reflect
on the accuracy of the value of their business that could inflate the
value of their stock?
4. Is there an ENRON in the house?
We believe that a search engine should take the public
to the web sites they are trying to find and not misdirect them. FULL

For
reject Laarni Losala it's been a long and bumpy road that she
had to travel to survive on the Pinoy Dream Academy reality show.
The bottom line is she was strong enough to survive her mentors
and tormentors and make it to the final six and a chance to win
the top prize of a million pesos and a house for her very poor
family. What stood out this past week is the final six had an
opportunity to choose who the order of the top six and who would
win the contest. The final results showed that none chose themselves
lower than a third place finish. Miguel was the only one to pick
himself to finish first. - IT'S ON!!!!
AMAZING RACE ASIA 3. The contestants largely
come from entertainment related backgrounds ranging from being
beauty contestants, actors, sports agents as well as an heiress.
