AMERICAN
IDOL DOMINATES CHARTS
Sports rule
in our latest edition of our NR Top 10 as they took the top three positions
in our latest ratings. Our television reviews took five of the top 10
spots. The overall top spot was notched by last months Top 10 ratings'
indicating it's a good way to take short cuts to what is going on in
the NR world. But… that's not a story therefore it's not included on
our list.
The top story went to MAN CITY DEAL WENT KAKA. With the
again much talked about Ronaldo move to Real Madrid it all comes down
to integrity and our story notes that KaKa stepped up and became a role
model for doing things right and valuing integrity and loyalty when
he turned down a reported US $158 million transfer fee and US$500,000
a week wages.
HIDDINK PLAYS RUSSIAN ROULETTE SIGNS WITH CHELSEA took
the second slot. It notes that the rumors can be put to rest as to who
will be the replacement of the recently fired Luiz Felipe Scolari. The
payback issue factored into the move as Hiddink's ties with the Russian
national side and his salary has been partly financed by Chelsea owner
Roman Ambramovich for the past three years.
The third position went to another football story SCOLARI
GIVEN POISON PILL - Ambramovich Deems Big Phil Not Good Enough RESULT
SACKED Poor results and discontent in the dressing room was cited as
being Scolari's downfall. Also included in that piece was BECKHAM's
DILEMMA regarding returning to the LA Galaxy or remain with AC Milan.
Our Travel Tips column The Adventures of Roman Wanderaugh
with contributor Chris Hill captured the seventh spot. It takes a look
at some of Thailand's issues with our story THAILAND LOST THE PLOT HUMAN
RIGHTS IN THAILAND? You get the information and you can be the judge.
Our fastest movers were our television reviews AMERICAN
IDOL VOTES - HOW DO YOU KNOW? The piece questions the authenticity of
the tabulation of votes. It defies logic how Megan Joy Corkrey can escape
being eliminated on American Idol. After her performance this past week
Judge Randy Jackson described it as a "TRAIN WRECK". "That was horrible,"
added Simon Cowell.
The article was closely followed by the story headline
Has AMERICAN IDOL judge Paula Abdul lost the plot? Grace is out and
Paula Abdul makes a fool out of herself.
Entertainment news also made a major impact in this months
rating taking a number of positions in the Top 60 results. Business
made a strong showing with much of the interest towards the 2009
NAB Show - Where the Global Content Community Congregates and The Cable
Show in the USA. Also noteworthy was an Entertainment
News piece Elton John to Deliver Keynote Address at 2009 BIO International
and FOX DEALS with UEFA Champions League.
Our oldest story attracting interest is a piece about
the 2006 SEA GAMES problems with fixed
matches a problem that since that time has extended itself to Cambodia's
Under 17 national squad.
Sports Notes was the most popular section visited leaping
from the seventh to first. It replaced American Idol which fell to third
place. Soccer retained the second position Business Internet technology
(BIT) is a new entry on the list taking the 10th spot replacing the
Los Angeles Lakers which feel to 11th.

YEAR IN REVIEW
Part 2
- 2nd
Quarter April to June -
January, 2009
Part 2 - What was hot for the quarter? Luiz Filepe Scolari
dominated the quarter taking the top story prize when he announced
that it was he and not Ronaldo who was moving on and taking
the mangers post at Chelsea. Former Beatle Ringo Starr defying
all odds (particularly mine) as he went on tour at the ripe old
age of 67. David Cook won the American Idol title in somewhat
of a shocker as runner-up David Archuleta was perceived to be
the winner prior to the votes being tallied. Talk show host Larry
King continues to be one of our top stories of interest...

- March, 2009
THE
REAL COMPETITION BEGINS - When Felicia Barton was announced as
being recalled to the American Idol competition there was no explanation
why or whose place she took. The show will have different look
as the Top 12 had been expanded to the Top 13 to accommodate the
judge's appreciation of Anoop Desai's talents. He was eliminated
from the Top 12 but Simon The Merciless Cowell surprisingly announced
that the show will have a Top 13 for the first time in its eight
year history with Desai being the 13th contestant.-
