This
month there were many surprises that covered many areas. Surprisingly
many of our vintage stories from 13 years ago emerged from recycled
interest. The sections most visited did a flip flop with sports being
the big player.

MIXED BAG OF FAST RISERS
A
mixed bag of interest surfaced this month from our NR readers. Sports
led the list with 4 of our Top 10 ratings closely followed by TV reviews
with 3. Our Phnom Penh columns took two spots and our review on former
collegiate, pro football player turned TV sports analyst Desmond Howard
took the final spot. As he did on the field Howard covers a lot of
area in his personal life so we designated him in the NFL (National
Football League) section.
The
top spot went to out BAD BOYS of sports story with insights to England's
# 1 tormentor Joey Barton. He was joined by the original Bad Boy of
sports America's and the USA's Dennis (The Menace) Rodman. Both gained
their reputations in different ways. Barton is a bad boy on the field
of play looking for a fight while Rodman was a peaceable man on the
court but wormed his way into trouble in his personal life. Nuff said
they are the bad boys of sports.
Howard
a former standout collegiate football player at Michigan University
went on to have a mediocre professional career but had some glorious
moments. He was selected to the collegiate Football Hall of Fame.
American
Idol stories continue to stir up interest as they took the next three
spots (3-5) with James Durbin being the focal point of much of the
material. Durbin was voted off the show in the 4th position which
shocked many viewers.
The
sixth spot went to an old story that won't go away that being the
plight of then Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti. We pointed out that
Chelsea's problems didn't lye with Ancelotti but with the team's owner
Roman (The Guillotine Man) Abramovich. We stick to our opinions and
are on a wait and see how this season turns out and if the Ramo Man
will fire and hire another victim to be the manager of his aging squad.
The
7th spot goes to the retirement of China's basketball legend Yao Ming
from the NBA titled The (Yao) Ming Dynasty is Over. The title was
so good that the Chinese government owned CCTV stole it and telecast
it several days later after our publication. Nice work China as it
is well known that you are good at copying and stealing ideas. Bitter?
Not bitter. Bitter has nothing to do with facts.
FIFA's Slaughterhouse took the 8th spot. That column highlighted the
butchery and deceit of the FIFA organization in finger pointing some
for corruption while covering up for other who are guilty of more
serious crimes than bribes which is a well know practice in Asia.
FIFA is now scrutinizing the blacks in the Caribbean. FIFA was calculating
by donating money to Interpol shortly before the bribery cases and
the presidential challenge for Sepp Blatter's job which he's seemingly
held since they built the pyramids.
The
9th and 10th spots were taken by our Phnom Penh columns one of which
is this month's fastest riser up the charts. YOUTHFUL CAMBODIAN ENTERTAINERS
vs. VETERAN TALENT in SABAY CONTEST notched the 10th spot only three
days after being published. The focus of both columns is a Cambodian
contest searching for the most popular Cambodia talent in Cambodia
in three categories, singers, actors and TV presenters.
The
youth verses old is the changing of the guard of younger talent
replacing older talent who have dominated hosted TV show and the covers
of Cambodian magazines. It reeks of favoritism or a lack of ethics
and credibility. The changes are needed.
There
are some major flaws in the Sabay contest one being that all of the
votes go to the Sabay office and only they know the real total and
who won from public voting via cell hone messaging. There is no unbiased
third party what doesn't have an interest in the event involved to
tabulate the votes. It's all Sabay with no others to verify.
SECTIONS
MOST VISITED
In a complete reversal from last month
Sports Notes and Soccer now man the top two positions up from the
10th and 9th respectively. After a two month absence Entertainment
roared on to the charts in taking the 3rd spot. Phnom Penh continues
to make a strong showing by holding down the 4th position up from
7th. TV/Video reviews fell from 2nd to 5th which is no surprise as
the month of July is the worst month of the year for fresh television
programming.
We
also didn't have anything to write about as what was televised was
basically garbage. The Feshie section took the 6th spot largely due
to our including the Sabay contest stories on that page. We dropped
coverage of the Freshie contest in 2008 due to questionable practices
that we will divulge in our future Sabay contest coverage. American
Idol maintains strong interest two months after the winner was decided
and holds down 7th place followed by the Lakers 8th, BIZ WHO IS 9th
and the NFL 10th.
ARCHIVES
There
was a tremendous amount of activity in researching our old stories
some of which are 13 years old. They include Pulitzer Prize winner
Jim Murray, Hall of Fame football player Walter Payton, boxing promoter
Don King and an ongoing subject Racism which is largely practice in
the media business as out story Racist radio points out. The twist
about this story is that blacks aren't the target… Japanese are. Due
to the amount of interest in these stories we are including all four
in our ARCHIVES and oldest listings.
