TORONTO’S CHRIS BOSH AND OKLAHOMA CITY’S KEVIN DURANT NAMED NBA EASTERN AND WESTERN CONFERENCE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK for games played Jan. 25-31.

 

NEW YORK, N.Y. USA - Thursday February 4, 2010

The Toronto Raptors’ Chris Bosh and Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant today were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Jan. 25-31.

Bosh finished the week as the league leader in rebounds (16.0 rpg) and ranked fifth among leaders in scoring (25.7 ppg.), while guiding the Raptors to a 3-0 week. He had a double-double in each game and became the first player in franchise history to record at least 20 points and 15 rebounds in three consecutive games. Against the Indiana Pacers, he posted 26 points, 15 rebounds and a season-high seven assists.

Durant, who led the NBA in scoring (34.3 ppg) for the week, helped the Thunder to a 2-1 week with wins over two Western Conference opponents. He paired a season-high 45 points with 11 rebounds against Golden State on Jan. 31, for his second double-double of the week. In the game, he made a season-high 16 field goals and shot .762 (16-21) from the field.

Chris Bosh, Toronto Raptors

Jan. 27 vs. Miami: Collected a season-high 18 rebounds and posted 24 points in a 111-103 win over the Heat.

Jan. 28 at New York: Scored 27 points and added 15 rebounds in a 106-104 win over the Knicks.

Jan. 31 vs. Indiana: Set a season high with seven assists to go along with 26 points and 15 rebounds in a 117-102 win over the Pacers.

Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City Thunder

Jan. 27 vs. Chicago: Posted a double-double with 28 points and 11 rebounds, plus five assists, in a 96-86 loss to the Bulls.

Jan. 29 vs. Denver: Poured in 30 points on 12-19 shooting and added four assists and four rebounds in a 101-84 Thunder win.

Jan. 31 vs. Golden State: Totaled 45 points on 16-21 shooting and 11 rebounds in a 112-104 Thunder win.

Other nominees for the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Atlanta’s Joe Johnson, Charlotte’s Gerald Wallace, Cleveland’s LeBron James, Denver’s Chauncey Billups, Milwaukee’s Andrew Bogut, Orlando’s Dwight Howard and Utah’s Andrei Kirilenko.
