AL JAZEERA's "CONTROL ROOM"
D. J. Ken - National Radio Text Service
SCREENED AT THE META HOUSE presented by the Overseas Press Club of Cambodia - As they say there are two sides to every story. Other than the US propaganda of their invasion of Iraq for the sake of democracy there's another side if the story that comes from the Arab News Network Al Jazeera.
Monday January 10, 2011 THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY A riveting documentary "Control Room" was screened at the Meta House in Phnom Penh, Cambodia January 9th presented by the Overseas Press Club of Cambodia. The focus was America's 2003 invasion of Iraq for those mysterious but never found weapons of mass destruction. The point of view and back story was the profiling Al Jazeera television network whose journalists were featured on camera asking questions to US military military media rep clones why they were invading Iraq and killing innocent civilians including women and children. The US military spokesperson was ill prepared to answer such direct questions as he stumbled and stammered his way in trying to find a response. In a defensive manner he chose to use the art of deflection by accusing Al Jazeera of having an agenda to present America in a negative way. He finally blurted out that Iraq threatened the US with weapons of mass destruction. The Al Jazeera reporter pressed on and asked when did this happen? The US military clone racked his brain and stammered his way to eventually respond that they may eventually use these (never found) weapons of mass destruction. The US media rep stressed how they were so advanced in saving lives due to possessing accurate bombs. With all of that expert technology he couldn't explain why innocent civilians were being killed. Another misinformation US press conference a deck of cards was displayed and it was noted that the photos on the cards were Iraq's most wanted by the US military. When the media asked to see the cards they were denied. Throughout the piece US soldiers were interviewed about their thoughts of their presence in Iraq and they all responded with the same clone like military rhetoric that they were trained to say to free the Iraq people from Saddam Hussein. Some mentioned that dreaded DEMOCRACY word which an Al Jazeera reporter commented about America conveying the message to other nations "Democratize or we'll kill you." He also pointed out that the war was really about America wanting to CONTROL ALL OF THE OIL in the region. In an interesting scene a Middle Eastern journalist asked a US media superior regarding how he was annoyed with the military media rep and his defensive, deflective response to his questions. The superior responded that he should approach the US media rep and ask questions with a SMILE. "How can I smile when you're killing my people," the reporter asked. A scene showing young supposedly Iraq youths were seen marching towards the statue of Saddam. They eventually pulled it down in a scene that was shown around the world. The problem being that the Al Jazeera journalist said they weren't from Iraq. "I'm from Iraq I know the Iraqi accent," he said. Another strong scene was American military breaking into civilian's homes with women and children and in a physical forceful manner by pushing them down by their heads and demanding them to, "Get down on the FUCKING ground. That scene pointed out two glaring points: 1. How poorly trained these ignorant soldiers were giving demands in ENGLISH to people who don't speak the language. 2. The thug like mentality of these voluntary US soldiers who are more suited to be members of a gang in a drug gang war as their mentality indicated. It questions the education of these individuals and how poorly trained they were. The argument that THIS IS WAR is absolute bullshit as is coming to light with revelations of US misconduct during their occupation of Iraq and finding NO WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. To make matters worse the US was so annoyed by Al Jazeera's (in the US's deflective minds) slanted reporting that they bombed their offices and killed one on the reporters featured in the documentary. He was seen on camera wearing a protective helmet when the Al Jazzier director asked the camera to be turned away from him and towards the action. The bombing followed and the reporter was dead. This 84 minute film is a MUST SEE. NOTES: Al Jazeera is based in Qatar and has a viewing audience of 40 million Arab viewers. It is the most popular news outlet in the Middle East. The network is labeled by many in the west as being the mouthpiece of Osama Bin Laden. Some Arab countries banned the network for its free form journalistic investigations. The documentary was pieced together in 2004 by Egyptian-American filmmaker Jehene Noujaim. The US military spokesperson Josh who stammered his way through answering Al Jazeera's questions is now working for the network. To stress a point what is news and what is not. In December 2010 former US Vice President Dick Cheney was fined $250 million in a plea bargain for bribery charges in Nigeria. The Bribes were on behalf of Halliburton and benefactor of supplying material used in wars. Cheney avoided a jail term with the assistance of former US President George H Bush (the elder) and former politician James Baker who are both from the oil state of Texas. For some strange reason the story was hushed up by the major media. We failed to see reports of the story on CNN, BBC, Australian Network (ABC) or Channel News Asia. All of these networks spent enormous amounts of time reporting on Tiger Woods cheating on his wife and continue to do so. Its mind boggling to think that Tiger Woods cheating on his wife is more of a story and the former second ranking US official cheating on his country for FINANCIAL GAIN. Ask yourself where you aware of this story that was reported by the Guardian? To take it a step further the US President Barrack Obama bashing by CNN regarding his attempts to have a health care bill for the American people is more of a story to CNN than Cheney being basically a stealth like crook. It raises the question of is this a case of BEAT THE NIGGERS DOWN (and keep them in their place) and SAVE THE FACE OF WHITEY? On a personal note I come from a family from which several members were of US military commissioned officer status. A second cousin of mine whom I've known since he was 4-years-old grew up and attended the Air Force Academy and was a starting player of their football team that was good enough to play in a bowl game. While he was attending the academy he was a guest at my home and made a ridiculous statement. I questioned him about his remark and his response was, "THEY (the Air Force) TEACH US TO THINK THAT WAY."
