How contestant's personalities have changed since the Top 13 performances began - Recommended TV Listings
Wednesday, May 11, 2011 SCOTT McCREERY & HALEY REINHART are IN IT TO WIN IT From the first time we heard Scott McCreery during his audition in Milwaukee, Wisconsin his voice stood out as outstanding. He was ready to record. After the auditions were completed he was one of our three choices as having the best voices. The other two Jacob Lusk were eliminated last week at # 5 and Thia Megia was eliminated during the double elimination spots of 11 & 10 failed to have the poise of McCreery who has been consistent throughout the competition and gaining confidence. Idol's in-house mentor Jimmy Iovine said they weren't looking for the best voice which is a departure from the shows objective in the past but they were looking for the whole package. The show has it in McCreery. Of the Top 13 he, Lauren Alaina and Lusk are the only contestants that we could listen to over and over again and worthy of a purchase of their recordings. Alaina improved and emerged as the competition progressed. McCreery defies his youth being only 17 is mature beyond his years. His only weakness is strengthening his stage presence. Being in the country music category stage presence is not an obstacle. We can't recall Willie Nelson or any other country artist running all over the stage. McCreery's voice will make his performances happen. His strengths also include his down to earth personality. He knows who he is and doesn't try to be like anyone else he is all Scott McCreery. Since the beginning of the competition McCreery's personality has brightened up as he progresses through the contest. The bottom line is there is nothing wrong with him. He listens, cooperates and seems to be a talent that can be managed without conflict. He is our choice worthy of the title as he is genuine and ready to record. He and James Durbin are the only contestants that have never been in the bottom 3. Haley Reinhart is the toughest of the bunch. She is the clone of Allyson Iraheta as both lived in the bottom 3 in the early stage of the competition. Reinhart was a bottom 3 choice four times during the nine weeks since the Top 13 competition. She's maintained a positive outlook and has soldiered on and gained strength and poise. Reinhart has a good but not exceptional voice. Iovine seems to have a strong feeling about her potential. She looks great and possesses an interesting wholesome/sexy quality about her. Of the four remaining contestants she is a long shot to win. Should she win the Idol title our viewpoint is that Iovine and the show would be suspect for improprieties. Of all the contestants Reinhart's personality has changed the most. She seems more self assured bordering on arrogant. The 20-year-old appears to have bought into and has been influenced by the Hollyweird exposure. When she bragged on camera that she called Lady GaGa for permission to sing one of her songs which was granted gave the impression that she's in with the in crowd. That was a turn off and lends itself to being phony. Below are our projections on how American Idol voters will vote. Also our selections in the order of finish based on the quality of talent and not on infatuation as it appears to be the criteria for Idol voter's selections. The flip side of that is we have always been suspicious of the inflated numbers for Idol voting. 60 million votes in two hours is an amazing figure that raises the question of what type of technology does the show use? Are the apparent exaggerated numbers to impress advertisers? We also question who is Telescope the company that is responsible for tabulating the finals votes. Stay tuned...
