Tuesday May 5, 2009 THE FINAL FOUR ARE: In a somewhat lackluster American Idol season that final four are set to the final dash for the Season 8 American Idol title. Adam Lambert Throughout the season the most shocking episode thus far was last week when the most praised contestant Adam Lambert was shockingly selected to be in the bottom three for the first time. The 27-year-old Lambert has the most experience of the group having performed on the theatrical stage since he was a child. Lambert has the most flexible strong voice among the four. He has continually caught the eye of the AI judges with his original renditions of songs by imprinting his own style on a song. Last seasons winner David Cook was the best at doing so but Cook always sounded like Cook. Lambert's renditions sound like several artists but all in a weird way his own. The question is should Lambert win the contest what style will he pursue? Adam Lambert, 27 (born January 29, 1982) from Hollywood, California - a stage actor who auditioned in San Francisco, California. Before auditioning for American Idol, he was in the touring and Los Angeles casts of Wicked. His renditions of "Some Kind of Wonderful" and "Believe" made him a judge favorite. "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" (The Rolling Stones) Allison Iraheta Allison Iraheta entered the competition as a 16-year-old that gave the youngest contestant label. She celebrated her 17th birthday last week but remains the baby of the group. From the start she has been our favorite contestant due to her big Janis Joplin type voice and innocence. Of the four she has been in the bottom three the most. She has narrowly escaped and has gained the respect of the American Idol voters with her strong stage presence and voice. The young singer with Salvadorian heritage has overcome the biting criticisms of the acrid judge Simon Cowell. Of all of the contestants she has the greatest potential for development. Given her youthful age she has a potential youthful fan base that is more I-Tunes oriented which is now where now primarily the record business money is. Allison Iraheta, 17 (born April 27, 1992) from Los Angeles, California - a high school student who auditioned in San Francisco, California. In 2006, she won $50,000 and a recording contract after competing in a Telemundo reality show, Quinceañera. After her top 36 performance, Cowell declared Iraheta as "one to watch in this competition". "Alone" (Heart) Danny Gokey Danny Gokey is the elder of the group who turned 29 April 24th. The Wisconsin native has a strong soulful voice and is the only contestant who has never been selected for the bottom three. Gokey's background as a music director of a church choir gives him a stable mature presence on the show. His wife passed with a heart disease four weeks prior to his American Idol audition. She urged him to continue. That experience and his talent have given him a unique presence on the program. His voice is worthy of the title and his image is wholesome which is rare in the music business. Danny Gokey, 29 (born April 24, 1980) from Milwaukee, Wisconsin - a praise and worship music director who auditioned in Kansas City, Missouri along with best friend Jamar Rogers. Both made it to the Hollywood rounds, but Rogers was eliminated at week's end. Four weeks before the audition, Gokey's wife, Sophia, diagnosed with a congenital heart disease, passed away. His wife had motivated him to try out before she died. He is a judge favorite. "Hero" (Mariah Carey) Kris Allen Of all of the contestants Allen has been a dark horse. Throughout the competition he has slipped under the radar. Last week was the first week that he was in trouble to be eliminated but of the three he surprisingly received more votes than favorite Adam Lambert and was the first saved. Allen's voice is pleasant but not a blockbuster. He has a nice personality but… we wouldn't be surprised that this will be his last week and he won't make the final three. Should he survive it will be the most shocking result since Blake Lewis won out over Melinda Doolittle in season six. Kris Allen, 23 (born June 21, 1985) from Conway, Arkansas - a college student who auditioned in Louisville, Kentucky. He's best known for his group performance of "I Want You Back" by The Jackson 5 during Hollywood week with a group called White Chocolate. "Man in the Mirror" (Michael Jackson) The list of contestant ratings is in no particular order
Those eliminated are noted in brackets (xx) with their eliminated position included. Part 1 - THE BOTTOM THREE Part 2 - COWELL BOWELS Part 3 - KARA DIOGUARDI REVEALED PREVIOUSLY - THE WRONG SAVE NATIONAL
