THE BIKINI GIRL RETURNS - LAMBERT ROCKS

You could say that it was the biggest upset since America voted Barack Obama as president of the United States. This time America voted for another underdog as this season's American Idol titleist is a shy lad from Arkansas named Kris Allen who walked off with the title.

When AI host Ryan Seacrest made the announcement Allen's mouth dropped wide open and he exclaimed, "Are you serious? Adam (Lambert) deserves this. I don't know what to feel right now."

For sure after he got over his initial shock he must have felt pretty good as he has a promising future as a result of his surprising victory.

The FINALE show was the BOMB as Judge Randy Jackson would say. You could also say it was magnificent, marvelous, and incredible or whatever you want you have a multiple choice as long as it has a very strong positive connotation. Whatever the regular season lacked the finale made up for it as it was very well thought out program with performances from some of the biggest superstars then and now in the music business including a mega performance by KISS who featured second place finisher Adam Lambert as their lead singer.

Together their performance was the best music performance of the star studded evening. Most certainly it demonstrated how ready Lambert is to be the lead vocalist of a top notch Rock n Roll band.

Lambert displayed his versatility. His performance showed how capable and worthy he is of fronting any top rock group as he and Allen sang with Queen. Freddy Mercury may have been a great front man for the group but Lambert is more than capable.

Lambert was in his element fronting both of these established rock bands. His stage presence took KISS and Queen up a notch.

His strong performance pointed out two things.

1. How tough it is to make it in the entertainment business.

2. With his talent at the age of 27 why hadn't he made it BIG in the entertainment business earlier?

The show made giant steps by having this season's talent working with established stars. They were complimentary in all cases. The producers went the extra mile in working with visually challenged Scott MacIntyre. With his situation they would have to take extra time to cue him o the sound of the music to the choreography and designing the routines to compliment his sight impairment. They did it ad they did it right.

The highlight of the evening was the return of the Katrina Darrell aka The Bikini Girl. After she and AI judge Kara DioGuardi almost came to blows during her audition as to who was the better singer.

The problem came about at the audition stage after Darrell sang a song and DioGuardi said that she "Didn't have the chops (vocal power) to sing that song."

Dioguardi then sang to demonstrate how the song should be sung. Darrell wasn't impressed and expressed her opinion to the judges. "What!" DioGuardi lost control and her temper and they argued back and forth who was right.

Given her good looks and the Bikini Girl's attire Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson were smitten with her and agreed that she sang better than DioGuardi. Since it was a 2-2 tie with the girls not wanting her to be in the competition Cowell's power of authority having the tie breaking vote gave her the green light to move on to the next round.

After Paula Abdul informed the confused Darrell that she was going to Hollywood DioGuardi snorted, "Come naked next time."

At the FINALE Seacrest called Darrell's name out as the winner of the Golden Idol Award for Attitude. When she pranced up on the stage in a bikini Seacrest said, "I was going to ask what's new," but as he looked at her chest he remarked, "I see," as she was sporting a new boob job.

At that point Seacrest said that since things didn't go well for her as she was eliminated at the Hollywood auditions, that she should sing her song again. After she sang the first chorus another voice came booming through the monitors. It was DioGuardi who came from behind walking down a flight of stairs. Darrell had a stunned look on her face as her microphone was turned down and DioGuardi's volume turned up. When she turned around and saw DioGuardi her look was a mix of astonishment and anger.

After finishing the song DioGuardi shocked the audience by snapping open the front of her dress and exposed her body wearing a black bikini. Kara put her hand on the Bikini Girls shoulder gave her a hug in an apparent effort to make up and resolve their dispute.

If this was an act on Darrell's part and she knew about the plan all along then she's a good actress as it was believable. If not then the producers deserve credit for putting together what is referred to in the business as GOOD TELEVISION. It was entertaining and a good laugh.

Another failed AI applicant Alexis Cohen was also up for the attitude award. They showed a clip of her being told by Cowell that she can't sing. She replied, "Thank you." That wasn't a compliment Cowell responded. Cohen fired back, "I don't know what else to do but give you the finger." On her way out the door she added, "You suck."

To her credit Cohen is consistent. Last season she was eliminated at her audition and responded angrily. After leaving the judges room they tapped her video outside and she talked to the camera and said bad things about Cowell. She closed of her tirade by turning her back to the camera and mooning Cowell (with her pants on).

This show was so good that we watched it six times and it never got boring. If they could handle the song clearance problems FOX and American Idol should put this out on DVD… it is a blockbuster.
