Video Beat Part 2 - AMERICAN IDOLS SEASON 9 TOP 10 NR STORIES
James Loving - National Radio Text Service
There has never been an explanation of how the votes are tabulated or who the official voted tabulator TELESCOPE is or what their involvement is with Idol creator Simon Fuller and his 19 Entertainment companies who all of the Idols are signed to and most likely owned lock, stock and barrel while Fuller runs to the bank with tons of cash. We can't find any information about Telescope on the Internet - Part 1 Larry King talks to Idols - Recommended TV Listings
Wednesday June 9, 2010 IDOL MADNESS When Larry King interviews the Top 10 American Idol finalists something always surfaces that the public didn't know. From King's interview with the group after Lee DeWyze won the title it came to light that the Idols don't have a clue how much they will be paid. It left the impression that they are so overwhelmed by the American Idol experience that it really doesn't matter. With that apparently being the case the Idols have a lot to learn about the music/entertainment business. As former United Artist Records president Artie Mogul said to our Sherwood Oaks Music Business College class, "If its integrity you're looking for you're in the wrong business." On the TMZ shotgun gossip show the TMZ crew shot-gunned former Idol Brooke White as she was arriving for the Idol party after the finals. She told TMZ that with DeWyze winning, "They gave it to someone who needed a break." The operative words here are THEY GAVE IT TO SOMEONE. A logical thinking person would believe that gave and winning are tow different things as in the fans votes (supposedly) didn't count and that the win as we long suspected was a FIX. We can't find any information about Telescope on the Internet. Surprisingly all of the Idols have a somewhat fond understanding of judge Simon Cowell. Their upcoming summer tour could be the underlying factor in their treading softly on such sacred ground as to not interfere in their tour which results in the shaping of their solo careers. Siobhan Magnus suffered the most criticism from Cowell with much of it unwarranted as he took too much time criticizing her attire in what is supposed to be a singing contest not a fashion show Cowell was way out of line on this one. King was tactful enough to put her in a tough position by having her did into her thoughts on Cowell as she handled her answer in a diplomatic way as Cowell's damage was done when she was eliminated number 6 after NEVER BEING in the bottom three. Kings interview wasn't a pity party for Cowell or those Idols who suffered from Cowell's caustic criticism. There is no doubt that Idol will go on without Cowell and some of these Top 10 Idols will have decent solo careers. With King currently celebrating his 25th year on CNN it is probable that he will continue to interview future Idols the question is for how long. This season has proven to be the WORST Idols series ever indicated by the low television ratings. This year's final was the worst ever. The finals show, drew 24.2 million viewers down 16 percent from a year ago (28.9 million viewers) and was the second-lowest ever behind the debut season's 22.8 million viewers. Idol's 18-to-49 rating declined 18 percent from last year and was the lowest ever for a season finale. The experiment with comedian Ellen Degeneres didn't work; there was nothing entertaining about it. This season Kara DioGuardi got too comfortable in her position and became more annoying with her comments and pawing of Cowell that the bloom is off her rose. She came off as someone who thinks too much of themselves i.e. Cowell. With the season behind us we decided to check our Idol ratings of the stories we published about the program to see what columns were viewed the most. Though it ranked number 2 the fastest rising story was VIDEO BEAT MAX Part 3 - AMERICAN IDOL FINAL NOTES about the Idol Finals results show that featured Janet Jackson and relating her to other prominent BOOTY PEOPLE. The column also featured the return appearance of former Idol judge Paula Abdul. The results are as follows.
