Saturday June 20, 2009 King Meets Iran President Mahmud Ahmadinejad In the past we have regarded the work of talk show host Larry King to be of the highest standard. Recently we have come to the opinion that he is falling from grace as many of the topics on the show are self serving to someone other than King. When American Idol host Ryan Seacrest was permitted by King to interview the Top 10 American Idols it was like watching incest or a commercial for American Idol. It reeked of too much smooze and had very little substance as it does when King hosts. King has redeemed himself recently. A repeat of an interview with Iran President Mahmud Ahmadinejad was interesting particularly with the current attention given the protests of Iran's recent presidential elections. King's gift is his ability to listen and not be confrontational. He did that with Ahmadinejad. King is Jewish and Ahmadinejad's opinion that the holocaust never happened was brought to his attention. Ahmadinejad masterfully moved through the interview and noted that Israel is an occupier of another peoples land. He noted that the atrocities happened in Europe and not Palestine. He pointed out that the Palestinians did nothing to the Israeli people. This show is a must watch. It aired for the second time this past Monday in Southeast Asia. Usually two of the most relevant news stories of the week are repeated on the Sunday and Monday telecasts in Southeast Asia. Note the schedule below. NOTE: A BBC news telecast interviewed a Jewish settler in Israel who said that the land belonged to the Israelis as stated in the bible. It wasn't noted who authored the bible and when it was written. MORE KING Ethan Zohn the winner of Survivor Africa Season 3 was another interesting guest on the Larry King show. Zohn won US $1 million for winning the reality show. The now 35-year-old once buff curly haired contestant is now bald as a result of chemotherapy treatments for Hodgkin's disease. Zohn has set up a web site to call attention to the disease: www.standup2cancer.org Zohn was a soccer goalkeeper at Vassar College, and played professionally for the Hawaii Tsunami and Cape Cod Crusaders of the United Soccer Leagues and in Zimbabwe for Highlanders Football Club. He parlayed his victory on Survivor: Africa by donating some of his $1,000,000 first prize money to starting Grassroot Soccer, an organization whose goal is to "mobilize the global soccer community to combat the AIDS epidemic in Africa". On August 20, 2008, he began a 500-mile soccer dribble from Foxboro, Massachusetts to Washington, D.C. for that cause. Shortly after winning Survivor Africa, Ethan was hired by ESPN to serve as a sideline reporter for the US National Team's matches in the 2002 FIFA World Cup. In 2005, Zohn began to co-host the Metro Soccer Report (later renamed MSG Soccer Report) on the MSG Network, a weekly show dedicated to Red Bull New York (formerly MetroStars) of Major League Soccer. As of April 2006, Zohn hosts FC Fox on the Fox Soccer Channel PRISON BREAK After a year off the air in Southeast Asia the television series Prison Break has returned with season 3 on the Star World Channel. This series features actress Jodi Lyn O'Keefe as Gretchen Morgan a.k.a. "Susan B. Anthony". Her character is mean and wicked who would scratch your eyes out and thinks nothing of killing for gain. Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell continue to star in the series but O'Keef's performance is the most powerful in the series. She is a black widow character. The now 30-year-old actress portrayed Cassidy Bridges on Nash Bridges at the age of 17. She made her big screen debut in 1998 in Halloween H20: 20 Years Later and later starred in such films as The Crow: Salvation, Whatever It Takes and Devil In The Flesh 2. In 1999, she starred in the teen flick, She's All That (1999) alongside Freddie Prinze Jr and Rachael Leigh Cook. The Prison Break series first season was originally planned for a 13-episode run, but was extended to include an extra nine episodes due to its popularity. Prison Break has been nominated for several industry awards, and won the 2006 People's Choice Award for Favorite New TV Drama. The first three seasons have been released on DVD, while the first and third seasons have also been released on Blu-ray Disc. The series has been aired internationally, including several non-English speaking countries. The success of the series has also inspired short videos for mobile phones, several official tie-ins in print and on the internet, and a video game in development. A spin-off series, Prison Break: Proof of Innocence, has been produced exclusively for mobile phones. The series has spawned an official magazine and a book written in an in-universe perspective. Prison Break airs on Star World as noted in the schedule below.
