Sunday December 30, 2007 THE BEATLES "LOVE" MUSIC ON STAR WORLD The Beatles are recognized as being one of the greatest recording groups of all time. Their music is being recognized in collaboration with Cirque Du Soleil in a stage show Imagine The Beatles In "Love" that is currently being performed at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada USA. The Star World network is televising a one hour show in Southeast Asia. The one hour TV show shows how the production came together. The program features the two remaining Beatles bassist Paul McCartney and drummer Ringo Star. Also included are the wives of deceased members John Lennon (guitar) and George Harrison (guitar). The Beatles are the best-selling musical act of all time in the United States of America, according to the Recording Industry Association of America, which certified them as the highest selling band of all time based on American sales of singles and albums. In the United Kingdom, The Beatles released more than 40 different singles, albums, and EPs that reached number one. This commercial success was repeated in many other countries: their record company, EMI, estimated that by 1985 they had sold over one billion discs and tapes worldwide. In 2004, Rolling Stone Magazine ranked The Beatles #1 on their list of 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. According to that same magazine, their innovative music and cultural impact helped define the 1960s, and their influence on pop culture can still be felt today. For the Las Vegas show the original recordings of the group were remixed and sweetened (slight arrangement additions) by the bands original producer George Martin and his son. The senior Martin included his son since he is more familiar with today's recording equipment and techniques. The senior Martin noted that the recordings were originally recorded on two track recording machines 40 years ago. Paul and Ringo oversaw the mixing of the recording as well as the Circus Sole performances that supported the music in the stage show. Lennon and Harrison's wives also had a hand in the final decisions. This is a TV show worth seeing for Beatles fans as well as younger music enthusiasts who are not familiar with their songs. The band prematurely disbanded in 1969. Ringo summed up what their music legacy is all about, "The greatest gift we could leave this music which is relevant today." Paul added, "What made this all possible is (today's) technology." Check your local listings for reruns of this TV show. CMA AWARDS AMERICAN IDOL CARRIE UNDERWOOD Carrie Underwood continues to rack up the honors in her flourishing music career as she received her second Female Vocalist of the Year Award on the CMA (Country Music Association) Awards show. The program is being televised on the Star World Network. Underwood was quick to point out that she got her start on American Idol. Another American Idol contestant Kelly Pickler who finished sixth on the fifth season of the Fox television series American Idol performed on the CMA Awards show. She was so emotional about the experience that she broke out in tears during her performance. 20th Century Fox and 19 Television (19 Entertainment ) are currently developing a thirty-minute situation comedy starring Pickler as a naïve small-town Southern woman who unravels the mystery that her biological father is the state's governor. This is another show worth watching. Check your local listings for reruns or simply scan the channel when you're watching television. BIG BRO FORCED EVICTION AFTER THREATS Last week we pointed out regarding the misery the Pinoy Bog Brother show is experiencing as whatever could go wrong did go wrong. That's the bad news but there's more…. Housemate Baron Geisler, 25 who has a history of cigarette smoking and drinking problems was forcefully evicted from the show this past week after he became drunk on Christmas day and threatened another housemate. When he was called into the confession room to discuss his behavior with Big Bro the housemate defiantly turned on the heard but not seen Big Brother. In sports Geisler participates in Boxing, Taekwondo and Badminton. This past May he got involved in a bar scuffle that left scars on his face. In the confession room Geisler spewed profanities at Big Bro and told him that he hated him. He also called one of the female occupants of the house Big Brothers whore. At that point Big Bro was in a position where he had to swallow hard and choose his words carefully on the 24/7 TV program. Later with Geisler present Big Bro showed the other housemates a replay of Geisler comments. He was embarrassed by his drunken behavior and was later informed that he was forcefully evicted from the house and television program. There are five remaining contestants Gaby, Riza, Jon, Will and Ruben in the running for the FINAL FOUR who will win money for themselves as well as a charity of their choice. The final is scheduled to be televised Saturday January 5th on the ABS-CBN Network. At this time the specific time of the program was not announced. CAMBODIA'S FRESHIE BOY & GIRL SHOW RETURNS Cambodia's Freshie Boy & Girl show will return for the 2008 season when the shows producer Boonkerd Angamnuasiri changed his mind after saying at the end of last years 2007 final "James you have just seen the last Freshie show, I am tired." That was the bad news. The good news is he changed his mind and THE SHOW WILL GO ON with some changes. The 2008 show will be televised on Cambodia's TV 5 after being carried on rival TV 3 since its inception. There will be a new co-host since Vanda Meas became a Mrs. and moved to Australia. Angamnuasiri has yet to make a decision who will host this season's program. AMAZING RACE The US version of the Amazing Race continues to hold interest. The most interesting team is the Asian father and daughter. The father has toned down his domineering verbal assaults towards his daughter and is now giving her more respect by talking to her in a more civilized manner. Through it all the daughter deals with it and continues to support her father while occasionally pointing out to him to be more considerate when speaking to her and respect her opinions. Another interesting team is the grandfather and grandson. The grandson continues to dump the tough more challenging tasks on his 69-year-old grandfather who rises to the challenge. The grandson seems to be afraid to get his hands dirty. Thanks to the elderly part of the team they remain in the race.
