Haley Scarnato's Legs Didn't Save Her From Being Eliminated From American Idol - Jennifer Lopez (Sanjaya) BUGGED OUT - Johnny Cash Movie - Recommended TV schedule
HALEY SCARNATO COULDN'T LEG IT OUT Her singing didn't save her and her legs didn't save her. After two weeks being the next to last from being eliminated Haley Scarnato suffered her fate and was eliminated from the American Idol final eight. After taking weeks of barbs from judge Simon Cowell regarding her lack of talent and that she was getting by because of her good looking legs Haley Scarnato was finally eliminated from the American Idol hopefuls for the 2007 AI title. After her singing performance prior to the judges making their comments we said OK nothing special, Randy Jackson said, "Too karaoke for me," Paula Abdul said, "You has fun up there," and Simon (SAYS) Cowell said, "The vocals were so rushed I couldn't understand much of what you were singing." The San Antonio (Rose), Texas native is now destined to ride off into the sunset and return to the Lone Star state to continue to pursue her career. To her credit the wedding band singer did well to making it to the final eight. The American Idol experience served her well as she appeared to lose weight and gained confidence after taking an onslaught of criticism. For the third week in a row Phil Stacey was in the bottom three along with Chris Richardson. Richardson was the first to be saved leaving Stacy in Scarnato's usual next to last position. Stacy has been in the bottom three elimination bubble several times this season though guest vocal coach Tony Bennett praised the singer by stating, "He's one of the best singers I've heard in a long time. For those that don't know Bennett is recognized as being one of the greatest singers of all time. The eighty-year-old recording star's career has spanned over six decades. JENNIFER LOPEZ BUGGED OUT This past week the Sanjaya (Malakar) bug struck guest celebrity vocal coach Jennifer Lopez. After she me the controversial contestant Lopez admitted, "I like Sanjaya, I love Sanjaya (chuckle)." In a later response without Lopez being present Sanjaya joked (I hope) that he was going to ask Lopez's for her telephone number and her husband Marc Anthony didn't have to know about it. If the Sanjaya-man is serious about that he better listen up and know that Latino homies don't play (go along with) that. Sanjaya continued to weave his attention getting magic by changing his appearance AGAIN. If his Geyser style Mohawk hairdo wasn't enough this past week he ditched that and sported a mustache/goatee. It's not all grown in as yet but he seems to be working on it.
Knowing Sanjaya and his attention getting antics that goatee will disappear by the next show and he will have a NEW LOOK to capture the American Idol fans imagination. IS COUNTRY (MUSIC) COOL OR NOT? Well its that time. A few weeks ago I mentioned how difficult a transition it is for a country singer to sing a soul song and visa versa. Well this week's show will be exactly that test as the American Idol contestants will have to sing a country song. Two weeks ago when it was time to eliminate someone from the final nine Idol host Ryan Seacrest separated the contestants into groups of three. He noted that Melinda Doolittle, Lakisha Jones and Jordin Sparks received the most votes from American Idol voters. Now these three soul singers will really be put to the test by having to sing a country song that will impress American Idol voters to keep them out of the BOTTOM THREE with the possibility of being BE ELIMINATED. If that should happen it would reveal a blaring weakness in the American Idol format of taking a singer out of their element and have them sing songs the don't know and in a different genre. Sparks is the exception. The perky young lady lives in Glendale, Arizona. Arizona is a borderline country influenced state that has a cowboy/western history. The influence of country music is strong. The seventeen-year-old has sung at Country Thunder a famous country music venue in Arizona. She also sang the national anthem at sporting venues for the NBA's Phoenix Suns, the NFL's (National Football League) Arizona Cardinals, and the MLB's (Major League Baseball) Arizona Diamondbacks games. These three singers have the best voices in the competition. If one of them doesn't win then American Idol can be deemed a POPULARITY contest and not a singing contest. DID YOU KNOW??? Sanjaya, Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis all audition for the American Idol show in Seattle, Washington. That translates to three of the final seven auditioned in the rainy city. When you think of the thousands for auditions done throughout America there must be some magic in Seattle... or is something in the Seattle water? AMERICAN IDOL COUNTDOWN 12. Brandon Rogers 10. Chris Sligh 8. Haley Scarnato IT'S ON!!! JOHNNY CASH MOVIE IS ON If you want to see a great movie with plenty of country music then tune in to the Johnny Cash movie "Walk The Line" that is being televised on the Star Movie channel in Southeast Asia. It airs this Friday April 13 at 8:00PM in the Thailand/Cambodia time zone. For those that don't know Cash is one of the greatest country singers of all time. He had problems with drugs and served time in prison but went on to overcome those obstacles to become one of the top country-recording artists whose popularity spanned over five decades. The film stars Jauquine Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon. TV SCHEDULE Note: The shows listed are for the Cambodia - Thailand time zone. Check your local listings for time and date in your area.
