Video Beat EXTRA Part 3 - AMERICAN IDOLS TOP 6 REVIEW
James Loving - National Radio Text Service
When Pia Toscano was eliminated the bloom fell off American Idols rose. What remains is a talented Top 6 who are good but the program is not as interesting and the judges are showing their warts in the error of their ways and decisions. We rate the Top 6 according to their performances and selections to the Bottom 3 - Recommended TV Listings
Wednesday April 27, 2011 WHO'S THE BEST? WE RATE YOU DO THE REST With the money that American Idol generates it doesn't make sense why voting problems continue season after season. Where we come from no sense is NONSENSE. This season Idol has been changing the rules as they go along after they saved Casey Abrams in the 11th position. To cover their tracks they forecast a problem thus 11 of the Top 13 contestants will go on their summer tour that was designed for 10 performers. With the save used up the elimination of Pia Toscano in the ninth spot revealed the warts in the judges decision to save Abrams. As we asked what would they do when someone with a better voice than Abrams is in a position of being voted off the show because they wasted their save TOO EARLY. The answer is the judges were in shock with some holding their heads in disbelief. The damage is done but the judges continue to circle their wagons to protect their error b y continually endorsing Abrams as being worthy of their poor decision. Since Toscano departed the show has been less interesting. The judges failing to take responsibility for their mistake took the substance out of a program that was designed to find the best SINGER in the competition. They are now waving the flag that they are looking for the best entertainer. Ironically Abrams is the most talented in the bunch being an excellent musician, OK singer and the potential to be a successful comedic actor. The bottom line is he is in the top 6 and Toscano isn't. THE TOP 6 From the group that remains Lauren Alaina, James Durbin and Scott McCreery are the only three of the remaining contestants that haven't been in the Bottom 3. Casey Abrams who was saved in the 11th position is assuming the role of the teachers pet given the amount of praise and extra promotion air time. The others have been somewhat taking a back seat to all of the attention given to Abrams. As it stands with Idol having contests in Asia for the viewing public to enter a contest as to who will be in the Top 4 if Idol has their way Abrams will join the three that have not been in the bottom 3 Alaina, Durbin and McCreery. In alphabetical order and Bottom 3 selections we will rate the Top 6.
